Similarly, any mask made using this design is not meant to be a substitute for a hospital-grade and/or medically-approved mask. The design is intended for users to create masks to preserve the critically low supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) at healthcare facilities and other locations throughout the country. Cloth masks are not a substitute for social distancing measures but can and should be used in addition to such measures. The selection of materials used and mask construction quality will factor into the overall mask filtration efficiency.
